Muar is a historical town in Johor where visitors can find great food.
It is the main town of Muar, which is part of the wider entity district or area of the same name, Muar. It was upgraded into a fully-fledged district earlier in order to become an official city.
Muar District is the only district in Johor Bahru City that borders Malacca in the north. Upon the upgrading of Tangkak District, the southern area of Sungai Muar belongs to Muar District, while north of the river belongs to Tangkak District.
However, both the Muar region and Muar town are still collectively and fondly called "Muar" by their residents. The new township of Muar is located in the Bakri area.
Muar is one of the cleanest cities in Southeast Asia, having recently been awarded the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Standard.
