Kulai is a town and the capital of Kulai District, Johor. It is located in the northeastern part of Johor state, Malaysia.
The town has an area of about 605 square kilometers and it borders with Pontian district in the north, Segamat district in the south, Mersing district in the east, and Pasir Gudang district in the west.
The word "Kulai" means "hilly" or "steep". There are many hills around Kulai town that are covered with trees and bushes.
The population of Kulai is more than 60 thousand people. The majority of them are Malays followed by Chinese, Indians, and other races.
