Kluang is a city in Malaysia. It is situated in the Malaysian state of Johor.

The population of Kluang was estimated to be around 185,000 as per 2010 census. The city has an area of about 1,406 km².

The city is located at the mouth of the Muar River and it is surrounded by rubber plantations, palm oil plantations, and coconut trees.


History Of Kluang

Kluang was established in 1879 by the British as a tin mining town. The area was first settled by Chinese immigrants, who were brought to work in the mines.

In 1882, with the discovery of tin ore, more Chinese laborers were brought to work in the mines and construct roads and buildings. By 1884, there were about 400 Chinese residents living in Kluang. After independence from Britain in 1957, Kluang became an important administrative center for Johor state.
